How It All Began

Our story began in the classic college fashion— a math class. Kylar, who had been plotting this moment for weeks, sat in the row where Shannon always sat just to casually bump into her. He slid his phone to Shannon with an empty contact, asking her to fill it in. Shannon, who was in another relationship at the time, politely said, “Sorry, I’m not interested.” But Kylar, ever the smooth talker, quickly pivoted with a clever line: “I’m just looking for someone to study with. I’m struggling in this class.” Shannon, sweetly naïve and not exactly a math enthusiast, bought it hook, line, and sinker. It’s worth mentioning that Kylar was breezing through the class with a perfect 100%.
We laugh about it now (and Kylar loves to recount the story in detail whenever he gets the chance), but that moment turned out to be the beginning of one of the best friendships either of us could have imagined.
The Foundation of Us

Over the next seven years, we became a go-to person for each other. Through breakups, graduations, job offers, and everything life threw at us, we always had one constant: that one other person would always pick up the phone. Over the years, we tested the waters to see if there was something more, but somehow we were never quite on the same page… until we were.
Fast forward quite a few years to Shannon, who, with a little nudge from her mom, bought a plane ticket to Utah—to celebrate her friend Holly’s birthday... and to visit Kylar. The plan? To confess her feelings. They met up for dinner at BTG (where some of the engagement photos were taken), and as Shannon began to share how she felt, Kylar—without missing a beat—cut her off to reveal he had the same plan that night. And from that moment on, everything fell into place.

In June 2024, the week of their two-year anniversary, Kylar planned the ultimate surprise. He proposed to Shannon at the top of the mountain at Canyons Village in Park City. Naturally, Shannon didn’t want to carry a purse that night, so Kylar not only had the ring but also her three lipsticks, two credit cards, ID, and phone safely tucked into his pocket. As if that wasn’t enough, Kylar had both of their families waiting at the base of the lift to celebrate with them. Both families gathered for photos, but just as the photographer was about to snap the shot, the sprinklers turned on and soaked everyone! Despite the unexpected twist, it was, without a doubt, the most perfect day.

Now, as we get ready to say “I do,” we are filled with excitement to begin this next chapter of our lives. We’re thrilled to make the commitment to each other in front of God and our family and friends who have supported us every step of the way. As it says in Mark 10:8, "the two shall become one flesh," and we can’t wait for this beautiful journey ahead—together.
